The Holo Hookup - Elements

Hi folks!

This week has been a little bananas for me.  Things are always hectic when we are down a person (or 3) at work.  So even though I am pooped, I can still share some rainbow holo awesomeness with you!  The Holo Hookup with a monthly box of limited edition holographic polishes.  There are three regular contributors and one special guest contributor for each box.  The Holo Hookup mainstay indie brands are Glisten & Glow, Different Dimensions and Cupcake Polish, all of which are known in the community for their amazing holographic polishes.  For the month of February, the special guest contributor is Takko Lacquer, which is not a stranger to this blog.  The theme of February's box is 'Elements' and each of the four contributors was given one of the four classic elements to be inspired by: Earth, Air, Fire and Water.  Such a cool idea and such cool polishes in this box.  Let's take a look!

The Holo Hookup - Elements Box - McPolish

"EARTH" is the delicious creation from Different Dimensions.  This is a gorgeous brown linear holographic polish the is sprinkled with golden shimmer, some blue and green holo microglitters and ultrachrome microflakies.  The base of this polish is very brown in direct lighting but had a little bit a an olive green look in the shade.  So awesome!  I am a sucker for brown holos and Different Dimensions makes some of my fave browns.  The holo was strong and the formula was very nice.  I did one coat and was happy with the coverage,  But then did a second coat to see if the color deepened and it did.  The finish was not dull but it wasn't perfectly smooth, so a glossy top coat is recommended to bring out that rainbow.  For all the Earth signs: Taurus, Capricorn (that's me!) and and Virgo,

"AIR" is the beautiful creation from Cupcake Polish.  It has a periwinkle blue base with a  silvery linear holo and bright pink shifty microflakies.  This one is stunning!  I haven't tried Cupcake Polish before and I am happy with my first experience.  The formula was on the thicker side which made application easy for me.  I tend to prefer thicker formulas.  I did two coats with a glossy top coat for these swatches.  The holo in this polish was not the strongest in this box but it is great.  For the Air signs: Aquarius, Gemini and Libra.

"FIRE" is the super hot creation from Glisten & Glow.  This is a bright red linear holo with silver and red holographic microflakies.  The holo is sooooo strong with this one!!  This is my first holo polish from Glisten & Glow and I had only recently tried out her creme polishes.  I was already a fan of their top coat but now I am a fan of their polishes.  The formula was a little thinner than I prefer but it still covered completely in 2 coats and was just stunning in person.  For the Fire signs: Leo, Sagittarius and Aries.

"WATER" is the stunning creation from Takko Lacquer.  This has a soft minty blue base with gold shimmer and a subtle scattered holo.  Amazing.  Takko Lacquer makes the most interesting turquoise shimmers ever.  I may be biased but this polish alone is enough to purchase this entire box.  The color is soft and ethereal.  The formula was on the thicker side which makes it completely opaque in two coats.  You will definitely need a glossy top coat for this one as Takko Lacquer's vitamin E infused base dries a little dull.  For the Water signs: Pisces, Scorpio and Cancer.

The Holo Hookup box will be open for pre-order from January 21st at 9pm EST to January 28th at 9pm EST.  The cost is $40 plus shipping.  You will only be able to order during the pre-order window, so if you want it...get on it!  It is quite a steal because most of these polishes would be over $10 a piece if they were sold on their respective brands' website.  You can order your box from The Holo Hookup's website
