Nine Zero Lacquer - Men of Letters Collection

Howdy!

Today, I have the newest collection from Nine Zero Lacquer to share with you.  Nine Zero Lacquer jumped onto the indie nail polish scene last fall for their first collection.  It was a stunner!  This years fall collection is just as beautiful with a variety of finishes.  The Men of Letters Collection is inspired by the TV show Supernatural.  I have not seen this show (shame on me) so the polish names don't have much meaning for me.  But if do watch the show then you probably are up to speed with the polish names.  Regardless of the inspiration, they are all lovely colors for this autumn season and well into winter.  Let's take a look!

Just a quick note about all of these polishes.  For my swatches, I use Yellow Stopper as a peel off base coat.  This didn't play well with many of these polishes.  They seemed to drag and bald on the first coat.  But then applies beautifully on the second coat.  I really do feel this was an issue with the way the polish and the base coat were interacting.  All swatches were also topped with Nine Zero Lacquer's No Time To Waste glossy top coat.  On to the swatches!

Croatoan - A deep red linear holo with a golden shimmer.  This polish had a slightly metallic feel but the holographic effect really jumps out at you!  Patchy on the first coat but smooth on the second.  It is a very pretty shade for fall.

Lucifer's Cage - A slate blue linear holo.  This too, had a slight metallic feel to it.  The color is really beautiful.  I applied two coats with the first coat being patchy and the second coat being great.  It does dry down a little dull, so a glossy top coat is recommended to bring out that holo effect.

Moose - A cool toned chocolate brown linear holo.  Be still my heart!  This shade had a nice formula and was nice and opaque.  I did two coats here and would probably be able to get away with one using a different base coat.  The holo effect is very strong and very sparkly.

Stolen Grace -  A dusty sky blue linear holographic with metallic effect.  This is a fairly bright and soft color for a fall collection but would work well for winter.  It did show off brush strokes more than I prefer but was not bad.  I am showing you 2 coats with top coat here.

Purgatory - A slate/taupe/greige base with linear holographic effect.  The base color of this polish is difficult to describe.  There is definitely a purple undertone but it looks different in every light setting.  I love it!  The formula was quite good and was fully opaque in two coats.

Wayward Son -  A dusty hunter green linear holo with metallic effect.  The blue end of the holo rainbow spectrum really pops over this green base.  It did have more of a metallic feel but wasn't terribly brush strokey.  Nice and opaque.  I am showing you two coats with top coat here.

Singer Auto Salvage - A murky green jelly with gold holographic microglitter.  It's so ugly and sooooo pretty at the same time.  I absolutely love to wear these types of shades in the fall.  I am showing you two coats with top coat here.  You may want a third coat if your nails are longer.

Baby - A black jelly base with silver holographic microglitter.  This one is not very unique but still a pretty polish.  The black jelly base is quite opaque and covers well with just two coats.  It does dry a little gritty with all of the microglitter.

The King of Hell - A bright red metallic with golden shimmer.  This color makes me think more about Christmas than fall.  But it does fall into the jewel tone category, too.  I am showing you two coats with  top coat here.  With this being more of a true metallic, it tends to show brush strokes.  So be careful with application.

The Cult - A dark grey base with pink shimmer.  Another great shade for fall.  The pink shimmer in this one is very apparent in person.  It does dry down a little dull so be sure to use a top coat to bring out the shimmer.  Patchy on the first coat but evened out well on the second.

Holy Fire - A coppery/golden metallic foil/fleck with a splash of holographic shimmer.  Wow!  This one is so stunning on.  It is made up of teeny tiny flecks that lay flat on the nail.  My camera just wouldn't cooperate for the macro shot.  Super shiny polishes like this never show up as beautiful in my photos as they do in real life.  This is two coats with top coat.

Angel Blade - A super shiny silver metallic foil with holographic shimmer and silver micro flecks.  This baby is super shiny and super pretty in person.  The formula was really nice on this one as well.  Of course, my camera refused to capture this beauty.  It is quite beautiful in real life...you must see it.  Two coats with top coat here.

Beautiful collection, right?  My faves are Moose and Singer Auto Salvage but the last two super shiny metallics area in a close tie for third.  If you need some nice fall colored holographic, check these out.  The Men of Letters Collection is available now from the Nine Zero Lacquer store.  They sell for $9-$11 each or you can get the entire collection of 12 polishes for $120.  Which ones will you be picking up?
