Here's my flocking powder, it came in a HUGE container, this will last me for quite a while.
Like I said, messy:
It's so simple to do, I painted my nails with one coat of a dense red polish, it didn't need to be opaque. Once the base was dry I applied a single layer of quick dry top coat one nail at a time and immediately dipped that nail into the flocking powder (and wiggled it around just a bit). When I was done I had flocking powder everywhere, most of it stuck around my cuticles.
I used a small, stiff bristled nail brush to brush off the excess flocking powder once I thought the polish was dry enough that it wouldn't smear. Although I only waited around 5 minutes, the flocking powder was stuck quite firmly to the nail and didn't smudge when I used the brush at all. I scrubbed quite vigorously and didn't knock off any of the flocking powder I wanted to keep.
Just look at that fuzz! Overall, I love it! I'm shocked that I love it as much as I do. The texture is entirely soft, rather than rough like I expected. It reminds me of those velvet posters I colored in as a kid.
I had a lot of fun wearing this manicure, although my friends thought it was a bit odd. It lasted for two days without chipping (and I decided I wanted to go back to smooth shiny nails). It was a bit strange when doing daily tasks like washing my hands or doing dishes because my nails would stay damp for a couple of minutes (but not long enough to be annoying). Removal wasn't bad, it took a bit of scrubbing, but it was still easier than glitter.
What do you think of velvet/flocking powder nails? Have you tried this look or do you think it looks strange/stupid?
