Are you ready for a huge release of new takkitos this week? Friday is the day and you can pre-order for the first time. Hopefully, this will mean everyone can get what they want. There will be one limited edition shade, "Opal Dust". So if you want this baby (and you will) you should get to the pre-order window with a quickness. Let's take a look at "Opal Dust" and then we can talk more about the pre-order afterwards.
"Opal Dust" is a very special top coat of unicorn pee epicness. (if you are not familiar with Unicorn Pee aka Clarins 230, watch Cristine's videos because her descriptions are way more entertaining than mine) This is a super shifty shimmer to use a a top coat over any color. It looks the most shifty over a dark base but looks equally delicate over a lighter base. Opal Dust will not get opaque on it's own but if you want to wear it over the bare nail for a little something special...go right ahead! I am showing you one coat of Opal Dust over one coat of Irezumi with a glossy top coat. (yep...that gorgeous cobalt blue one coat wonder is also from Takko Lacquer and being released on Friday with Opal Dust)
In direct light, the shimmer in Opal Dust has a bright, fiery red quality. It looks like burning embers sparkling over the nail. As the angle of the light source changes, you get to see the dramatic shift to a bright green. This is way more present in real life. I tried to capture this beautiful shifting shimmer with some angles and extra light sources in this next macro. Do you see the green shift?
So yea...Opal Dust looks awesome over a dark shade, especially a royal blue. But I also really like it over a light base color. The photos are not as dramatic but it is very pretty in person. These next photos are one coat of Opal Dust over two coats of So Fresh So Clean. (this pretty minty creme is also a new Takkito being released on Friday!) You still get that fiery sparkle but the shift is not as in your face. The last macro is angled with some indirect lighting.
Gorgeous, right? I love toppers like this because you can use any base color and get a really cool manicure. As I said earlier, Opal Dust is limited edition and will have a limited quantity available during the pre-order. There will be two collections launching. The Collection of Curiosities and Exquisites is a collection of 8 cremes and 3 toppers. Sheryl will be adding to this ongoing collection all year long. The other collection is Summer Shimmers Collection which is 5 stunning shimmering polishes. Takko Lacquer is also bringing back the original Mani-bombs! These are heavenly scented manicure additives to help exfoliate and moisturize your hands and cuticles. Takko has made a great how-to post on their blog with good tips on using these fun little bombs. Check it out here. Also! There are so ridiculously cute Takko Lacquer pins that will be available in limited quantities. Make sure you check them out when you dive in for pre-order.
May 27th at 8:30 EDT (that is New York City time) there is will a one hour window where you can pre-order any and all of the polishes you want from these two collections. The only items with limited quantities are Opal Dust and the fashion pin. The pre-orders will be made and shipped out 2-3 weeks afterwards. Once all of the pre-orders are out, Takko Lacquer will announce when stockists will get the new collections and when regular restocks will be done on the site. I will keep you up to date on the restock info. Same time, same Takko Tuesday place ;)
