Glisten & Glow - Mother Earth Collection

Hi there!

I have a lovely set of indies creme polishes to share with you today.  Glisten & Glow make some amazing cremes and these four Spring shades are no exception.  They are buttery and smooth and apply like a dream.  This quad has a more muted feel than your typical chalky pastels for the season.  I am digging how well they all work together.  Let's take a look!

Takko Tuesday! - No Fox Given

Happy Takko Tuesday!

Today, I have a fun creme from Takko Lacquer to share with you.  This polish was originally released with the fall collection.  Takko consistently adds to the Curiosities and Exquisites Collection which is an ongoing collection of creme polishes and toppers.  "No Fox Given" is a rusty brown creme with an amazing formula.  There is a lot of orange in this shade.  The formula is fantastic.  I am showing you just one coat with a glossy top coat here.  Some people may like two coats but if I can get away with one coat, it's a winner for me.

Takko Tuesday! - Buttercream

Happy Takko Tuesday!

Let's take a look at another beautiful creme color from Takko Lacquer.  "Buttercream" is a cream colored creme shade with a creamy opaque formula.  Yes...that sentence was purposeful.  The color of this polish is a warm, off-white with just a hint of pinky beige.  You can see the contrast of it against the pure white of the Takko Lacquer bottle caps.  This is a nice addition to the Curiosities and Exquisites Collection for spring and fits well with the other muted colors recently released.

KBShimmer - All The Bright Moves Collection

Hey gang!

KBShimmer is releasing and brand new collection of neons for summer!  As far as I can remember, they have not put out a true neon collection before.  A few year ago, they had a nice selection of bleached out neons one summer but nothing like this one.  These babies are bright!  And the best part of all...you don't need a white base to get that blinding bright neon effect.  Another bonus for this collection, the names.  They perfectly punny in all the right ways.  My 80's nostalgia is in love with them.  Let's take a look!

Takko Tuesday! - Rose Water

Happy Takko Tuesday!

This is an exciting Takko Tuesday because I get to talk about my trip to Polish Con!  This was the second Polish Con event and it was held in New York City.  I love NYC but had only spent time in Manhattan on my previous trips.  This time, I got to hang out in Brooklyn which was a nice treat.  Not only did I get to see many of my favorite indie polish makers again, but I got to meet our illustrious Takko Lacquer creator, Sheryl!  Yay!  I have been talking to Sheryl for years now with Takko Lacquer releases and reviews.  But over that time we have become good friends and it was a treat to be able to meet her in person.  We had the best time looking at polishes and meeting other makers.  Plus, we got to check out some swanky bars and delicious eats in Manhattan together afterwards.  Best day ever!  For the occasion, I wore a new Takko Lacquer creme.

Takko Tuesday! - Marigold

Happy Takko Tuesday!

Today, we are looking at another gorgeous creme shade from Takko Lacquer for Spring.  Actually, this color would be excellent for fall as well.  "Marigold" is a slightly dusty mustard yellow creme.  The color is awesome.  I love, LOVE, these types of ugly-pretty shades.  They just stand out so well against the typical nail polish shades you see out there.  The formula was nice as well.  This had more of a crelly feel than a straight creme.  It is not a one coat wonder like many of the Takko cremes.  It needs two coats for full opacity and looks best with a glossy top coat.

Essie Spring 2017 Collection

Hi friends!

Today, I have a fun collection from Essie with vibrant creme shades inspired by road trips to Baja, California.  These six colors are bright and opaque with a surprisingly great formula.  Not your typical pastels for the season.  These colors will be available through the end of the month, but will work for any season.  Let's take a look!

Glisten and Glow - Oh, The Places You'll Go Collection

Hi friends!

Today, I  have a fun little collection of cremes and shimmer toppers to share with you all from Glisten and Glow.  This collection is inspired by the Dr. Seuss book 'Oh, The Places You'll Go' which is something many of us got as a graduation gift because it is inspiring and encouraging.  The cremes in this collection match the book's color palette perfectly!  Glisten and Glow is known not only for their amazing top coat but they do amazing cremes and holos as well.  Along with this collection, G&G has released a new matte top coat.  And it is great!  I will be showing you all of the manicures in both glossy and matte versions using Glisten and Glow's top coats.  Let's take a look!

Pacifica - Nudes Nail Set

Hi folks!

I have a nice little trio of nude nail polishes to share with you all today.  This is the first time I have tried Pacifica's nail polishes.  I have seen their polishes at Ulta many times and was always drawn in with the fancy brush handles they have.  The Pacifica line is 7-free, so no nasty chemicals in these polishes.  I purchased the Nudes Nail Set several months ago during a crazy Ulta haul because I wanted to try the brand out and review the polishes for you.  I am just getting around to it.  But have no fear because this nail set is still available from Ulta.  So if you like these colors, head over and pick it up!

Takko Tuesday! - Provocateur

Happy Takko Tuesday!

For the first Takko Tuesday of the year, we are going to look at a new creme shade.  Which means you are also going to get a little easy nail art, too.  Takko Lacquer released a nice selection of creme shades this past fall.  The creme polishes are all part of an ongoing collection called Curiosities and Exquisites.  It has creme polishes and toppers that will be around all year.  "Provocateur" is one of them!  It is a deep mulberry red with a hint of grey.  The saturation on this shade is more muted and perfect for the colder months.  Work appropriate and sophisticated.  The formula was nice as well.  It wasn't a one coater but still applied like a dream in two coats.  I have topped it with a glossy top coat in these photo because the vegan, vitamin E infused base that Takko uses tends to dry a little dull.

KBShimmer - Office Space Collection

Happy 2017!

Did you notice the blog new look?  On the first of the year, I changed up the look of PolishEtc which is something I have been meaning to do for the past year.  It was actually a resolution I had for New Years 2016.  I still have some tweaking to do but overall I am happy that I made a change.  Recommendations and critiques are always welcome, so tell me what you think of the new design.

To start off the new year, I have a super satisfying collection from KBShimmer.  I know that I talk a lot about how much I love coral/orange polishes.  But I first and bestest love is grey polish.  Greys and other similar neutral shades are what I reach for the most when I am painting my nail for myself.  Boring, I know, but they are just so chic and professional and always look good.  I am especially intrigued when it is a grey or neutral shade with a little bit of something extra.  Whether it is a little bit of shimmer or subtle holo glitter or a flakie, I am always enamored.  I feel like KBShimmer made this collection for me.  It is perfection for the 'work appropriate with a little something something' girl that I am.  There are 8 neutral shades in this collection that have more of a cool toned feel to them.  Greys and nudes galore!

Takko Tuesday! - Film Noir

Happy Takko Tuesday!

I have another flawless Takko Lacquer creme to share with you today.  This past fall, Takko released six new creme shades into the Curiosities and Exquisites Collection.  "Film Noir" was one of them.  This is a deep grey creme polish that has a slight green tint.  The formula is just great.  You could definitely get away with one coat but I am showing you two in this swatch.  It is creamy and smooth and applies like a dream.  I really like this shade of grey, too.  It is dark but doesn't look black on your nails.  The slight green tinge makes it unique.  It is really is reminiscent of the the gritty feeling of old Film Noir movies.

Kiara Sky Nail Lacquer Swatches

Hi there!

Are you all ready for Christmas this weekend?  I am almost done with all of the shopping.  I am a professional procrastinator...so I wait until the last minute to do everything.  Just like getting these swatches out to you!  I have waited too long to share with you pretty polishes from the brand Kiara Sky.  I have seen this brand floating around Instagram for a while now but had never tried them myself.  They are known for their professional nail polishes, gel polishes and dip powder.  They have a nice core collection of colors.  I was sent a random selection of nail lacquers to try out and I was quite pleased with the formulas.  Let's take a look at some of their shades!

Happy Takko Tuesday!

Sorry for the lack of posts this week.  But I am in Iceland and didn't get things preblogged before I left.  (Btw...Iceland is amazing and you should totally make the trip if you can!). Today, we are looking at a new creme polish from Takko Lacquer.  "Peony" is a slight dusty rose pink creme with a wonderful formula.  She applied smoothly in two coat and was nice and opaque. You could probably get away with one coat if you were very careful with your application.  This color is part of the Fall release of new shades in the Curiosities & Exquisites Collection.   The collection is ongoing group of cremes and toppers which continuously get added to.  The colors that Sheryl came up with this fall are awesome!

To liven up this manicure, I did a little glitter gradient using another one of Takko Lacquer's topper, "18K White Gold".  I sponged this real gold leaf topper onto my nail near the cuticle for this look.  Supper pretty and girly!

Takko Lacquer just had a preorder of their fall shades.  They should be doing a regular restock in the next few weeks.  Be sure to follow Takko on all of their social media to be up to date on new releases and restocks.

Takko Tuesday! - Ask Alice

Happy Takko Tuesday!

Today, I have a quick little takkito post to share with you.  "Ask Alice" is the last creme polish in the Curiosities and Exquisites Collection to share with you.  The collection started this summer and is an ongoing group of creme polishes and top coats from Takko Lacquer.  It will be added to over time with additional cremes/toppers as the months go on.  "Ask Alice" is a bright light blue creme polish with a great formula.  This light color is surprisingly opaque.  I applied two coats with a glossy top coat for this swatch.  Last month, I showed you this color underneath the 18k White Gold Top Coat.  It really is a beautiful blue.

This color is currently out of stock on the Takko Lacquer online store but feel free to check any of the stockist sites.  There is a restock planned for September  23rd with several fall and summer faves.  The Curiosities and Exquisites Collection should be restocked and be in stock more often as it is a continuous collection.

Takko Tuesday! - Tea and Cakes

Happy Takko Tuesday!

Today, we are looking at another beautiful creme polish from Takko Lacquer.  This is part of the Curiosities and Exquisites Collection which is an ongoing collection of cremes and toppers that will be added to throughout the year.  I have shared many of the cremes from this collection and they are all great.  "Tea and Cakes" is a pink leaning lavender creme with an opaque formula.  I almost got away with one thick coat but did two for this swatch.  A glossy top coat is recommended to give that high shine as Takko Lacquer's vitamin E infused vegan formula can dry a little dull.

Takko Lacquer - Tea and Cakes - McPolish

I wanted to add a little easy stamping to this purple base.  I used my MoYou London Sailor 03 plate and Takko Lacquer's Druzy Quartz to swirly cloud/wave manicure.  Simple but fun!
