Girly Bits Cosmetics - Sparrow of the Dawn

Heeeeeeey!

I have something extra, extra special to share with you today.  As many of you know, I am a music fiend.  I love to see live music and especially like to travel to see shows in new places.  Vacationing and good tunes all in one go!  Well, I have found another fellow music lover in the nail polish world.  Pam, the creator of Girly Bits Cosmetics, is a huge music lover as well.  We have spent the past 6+ months gushing over out love of Greta Van Fleet.  I have mentioned this band before on the blog and I am still totally obsessed with them.  They are bringing back Rock and Roll!  Girly Bits Cosmetics has created a new polish to add to their Concert Series Collection inspired by Greta Van Fleet and it is awesome.  I, of course, am completely biased but I really do think you all will love it.

This is exactly the polish I will be wearing to see the band with Pam in Detroit in less than two weeks!  Yay!  My favorite band with a cool AF nail polish chick...I am stoked :)

Ellagee - Throne Shippers Collection

Hi all!

I have a very fun, very shifty collection to share with you all today.  Ellagee loves to make collection based on Game of Thrones (TV show and the books) and I have covered them all here, here and here.  This newest collection is a quad of multichrome shifting shimmers inspired by love matches that Laura would like to see happen in the next season of Game of Thrones (which starts in two weeks!!!).  If you are a fan of the series, I want to know if you think these couples should pair up, too.  Share your thought of the polishes and the show in the comments.  This set is launching right now, so let's take a look at all of the goodness!

Takko Tuesday! - Dreamcatcher

Happy Takko Tuesday!

Today, I have another oldie to share with you.  I don't have any new takkitos to share, so I am going through older polishes that haven't made it on the blog yet.  This one I snagged in a destash online.  I am always on the hunt!  "Dreamcatcher" was originally released in the fall of 2014.  She is a teal to magenta metallic multichrome with a sprinkling of holographic shimmer.  What is crazy to me, is that this exact polish would be on trend right now.  It seems like everyone is doing multichrome shifters with a splash of holo.

KBShimmer - New Multichromes!

Hello!

I have some super duper shifty shifters to share with you today.  KBShimmer came out with a mini collection of new multichrome polishes this summer.  They all shift nicely on the nail and don't require a dark base.  They are opaque in their own.  These six polishes are available now, so let's take a look at all of the #colorshiftyawesomeness!

Top Shelf Lacquer - Cocktail Fun Holo'd Collection

Hey there!

What better way to celebrate Friday than with a little cocktail fun?  I have a fun little collection of shifty holographic polishes from Top Shelf Lacquer to share with you today.  There are four multichrome metallic shifters in this quad that all have a nice linear holographic effect.  They released these polish both with and without the holographic effect.  So if you are interested in a non-holo version, that is available, too.  Since we want to see that awesome shift, I am including photos with both direct lighting and my duo lighting set up to catch that color shift.  Let's take a look!

Great Lake Lacquer - Polishing Poetic Collection

Hello!

Great Lakes Lacquer released a gorgeous collection today.  They are shifty and bright and oh so interesting on the nail.  Plus, they are all inspired by famous works of poetry.  Which the nerd in me loves.  The Polishing Poetic Collection is a group of 8 polishes in a variety of finishes and colors.  Everyone is sure to find something that they like in this collection.  Pre-order started today...so let's take a look!

Candy Lacquer - Twilight Zone Collection

Hey there!

I have so shifty little polishes to share with you all!  Candy Lacquer has recently released a collection of multichrome holographic polishes inspired by the classic TV show, The Twilight Zone.  Each of these shades look different in the bottle, different in the shade, different in the sun, different depending on the angle of the light.  They look different all the time!  Which is what makes them so much fun to wear!  (maybe not so much fun to photograph)  I have a ton of photos for you.  I tried to show off all of the different looks each of these polishes has.  Let's get shifty!

Whats Up Nails - Dragon Powder

Hey there!

I am sure you have seen all the buzz about these new chrome powders for nails.  The have taken over Instagram and YouTube and nail blogs for the past few months.  I can understand why because they look amazing.  So reflective!  I have been reluctant to try them because you need to use a gel top coat to make it last and I don't use gel polish.  Actually...I am pretty darn terrible at gel polish.  I have only tried it once before and it was a complete fail.  I very much wanted to try out these chrome powders, so I figured I would give it another shot.  Be prepared to see some fails in this post.  Not because of the chrome powder...because of the top coats that I tried.  The chrome powder I tried was called Dragon Powder from Whats Up Nails.  It is a chrome finish with a green to gold to red multichrome effect.  It is part of the Magic Shifting Powders line.  The effect is stunning!

Takko Tuesday! - Kaleidoscope Eyes

Happy Takko Tuesday!

I have another original Takko Lacquer shade to share with you all today.  Also!  My polish sister from Germany, Lotte, is going to be joining in on the Takko Tuesday fun with us again.  She is a Takko Lacquer addict just like me and I love being able to share these special Tuesday posts with her.  Be sure to check out her blog today for her swatches.  "Kaleidoscope Eyes" is a lovely little shifter from Takko Lacquer.  The base is a blue to green to purple multichrome with a little of a metallic finish.  The base color overall gives off a teal vibe with a little hint of a slate blue at times.  At an angle, you can see it shift through a variety of pretty mermaid shades.  Then, there is also a substantial linear holographic shimmer running through it.  So, not only do you get the shifting multichrome effect but you also get rainbows!  Yas!  The formula was quite nice and completely opaque in two coats.  It can show off brush strokes if you are not careful but they dry down mush less noticeable.  A glossy top coat really brings out the holo effect.  I really like this shade.  I find it muted but bright and a very nice color for fall and winter.  It's a keeper!

These next photos were taken with two different light sources at opposing angles to really show off that shift.   This polish is such a chameleon.  So cool!

Takko Tuesday! - Dazed and Confused

Happy Takko Tuesday!

Today is another special Takko Tuesday because I am joined by my German polish sister, Lotte, again.  Yay!  It has been a hot minute that we can done TT together but we are showing some love to the same Takko Lacquer shade today.  "Dazed and Confused" is an older takkito but still very beautiful.  I was able to snag this shifter in a blog sale and was super happy about it.  I am still trying to complete by Takko Lacquer collection and always looking to fill in the holes when I can.

Takko Lacquer - Dazed and Confused - McPolish

"Dazed and Confused" is a dark, royal blue multichrome with an awesome holographic shimmer.  The base is dark but bright at the same time with a slightly metallic effect.  It shifts from royal blue to deep purple to a coppery red as the angle of the light increases.  This in combination with e holographic sparkle makes it look like an instant galaxy on your nails.

Takko Lacquer - Dazed and Confused - McPolish

I am showing you two coats with a glossy top coat in these swatches.  I am including shots with different angles and light sources to show off that shift as much as I can.  Photos don't do this one justice, you really need to see shifters like this in person.

As I said before, this shade is an older release but could very well come back in a restock in the future.  As far as I know, this is not a discontinued color.  Be sure to stalk Takko Lacquer's social media for all of the latest info on restocks and new releases.  And be sure to check out Lotte's Takko Tuesday post today.  She will likely show off this color beautifully as she does will all of here reviews.

Glitter Daze - Flora Noxia Collection

Good evening!

Do you love flakies?  I love flakies!  Everyone loves flakies.  Especially the newest multichrome metallic flakies that are hitting the scene.  Glitter Daze is one of the indie brands that is know for amazing flakie toppers.  Flora Noxia is a new collection this month that included two versions of each flakie topper, one with just the flakies and one with holographic microglitters mixed in.  Today, I have all 8 of the plain flakie toppers to share.  The polishes are all named after deadly plants because you will just die when you see them.  Ha!  Just a quick note about all of these swatches.  I used one coat of the flakie topper over two different colored bases.  I am showing you macros with both glossy top coat and matte top coat (Matte all the flakies!!).  The matte top coat I used was Sally Hansen's Big Matte top coat and it really mattified/blurred the polishes.  These flakies are all very thin and easy to apply.  No sticking up at weird angles.  Also, I used two light sources at different angles to really show off the shift of the flakies.  Enough of the chatter....let's look at some flakies!

Cirque Colors - The Meta Collection

Hi folks!

Tonight, I have some color shifty awesomeness to share with you!  This month, Cirque Colors released a limited edition collection of multichrome polishes all packed with some shifty microflakies.  I was having major issues trying to choose which photos to use in this post.  There were just so many to choose from!  Some with direct lighting, some with dual lighting, macros, bottle shots....so many!  I picked out a few that I thought displayed the shiftiness of these polishes.  I used two different light sources at different angles to get all of the colors to shine.  Let's take a look!

Takko Tuesday! - Wynwood Walls

Happy Takko Tuesday!

Today, I am sharing with you a little flakie gradient I did using Takko Lacquer's "Wynwood Walls".  this is another multichrome flakie from Takko that can be used as both a topper and as a full coverage flakie.  I sponged a few layers onto the tips of my nails for a twist on glitter gradient tips.  The flakies in this polish are fairly small and shift from purple to fuchsia to gold to blue.  The dominant color is purple though.  These flakies are opaque and flat.  One coat gives you excellent coverage and you can get it completely opaque in 2-3 coats.  I am going to share both the glossy and matter versions of this mani because #mattealltheflakies, duh!  Let's take a look!

Lavish Polish Multichrome Flakie Duo

Hello again!

This is a record.  A blog post every day this week.  Where's my cookie??  :)

I just had to share these amazing flakies with you today.  The metallic multichrome flakie has been a huge hit this year.  We have seen a ton of indie brands use them in clear bases for eye catching toppers and full coverage flakies.  Personally, I love to see these color shifting gems used in creative ways.  Lavish Polish has just released a little duo of color shifting awesomeness that you need to check out.  Emely is having a restock today of these limited edition polishes...so get them while you can!

Both of the polishes in this duo have a black jelly base with a fine holographic shimmer running through it and metallic multichrome flakies of different colors.  I used two coats for these swatches with a glossy top coat and then a matte top coat.  Because duh...MATTE ALL THE FLAKIES!

Here is "Supernova" which has metallic flakies that shift from coppery orange to gold to fuchsia pink.  I used two light sources at different angles to capture all the the color shifts.  This polish is mind blowing and sold out very quickly on it's release last week.  So get your trigger finger ready!

The other polish in this color shifty duo is "Milky Way".  The metallic flakies in this baby shift from bright blue to lime green to gold.  Again, I used the same double light source to capture the entire shift for you.  The glossy macro of this one really shows how cool the flakies look suspended in the jelly base.  Gobsmacked!

KBShimmer - Pigment of my Imagination

Get ready for some color shifty awesomeness!

Today I have for you one of my only multichrome polishes.  The beauty is from KBShimmer and is called "Pigment of my Imagination".  I have always liked shifty duochromes but I had never jumped on the multichrome bandwagon until recently.  A "multichrome" polish has pigments that shift into multiple colors based on the lighting and angle.  This polish has flashes of navy, purple, magenta, red then some orange to gold at extreme angles.  With all this color shifty awesomeness...you can expect to get stopped at traffic lights staring at your fingers changing colors.  For these swatches I used two coats for full opacity topped with KBShimmer "Clearly on Top" quick dry top coat.  Check out all the colors and be sure to watch the little Flipgram video of even more shiftiness :)

KBShimmer - Pigment of my Imagination
Straight on shot showing off the deep blue base color.

KBShimmer - Pigment of my Imagination

Water droplet macro to REALLY bring out all the colors in one shot.
Oh.  Em.  Gee.

Amazing right?  I hope you liked the little video showing off all the colors at all the angles.  Those little water droplets really help bend the light and show off even more flashes of color.  KBShimmer has a few other mutlichromes and they even come with a holographic option.  Get them here:

Girly Bits Wave the Sales Multichrome

Multichromes might just be my new thing. I love all things sparkly and can stare at my nails looking at the reflections. But this is completely new and different and I love it. So many different color combinations. I took about 30 pictures and could not capture all the colors this polish morphed in to. Look at the bottle shots in the photos. I could count about 10 different colors I saw throughout the day.

This is two days worth of wear in this picture. Three thin coats with one coat of HK Girl top coat. I wasn't going to use a top coat but the polish took forever to dry!

I tried to take multiple photos at different angles but it would only capture a few of the colors since I did not change the light source.

This probably has to be one of my favorite polishes to date. Definitely one to stare at!

Girly Bits is based in Canada and the ships to the US and beyond. It can also be found at my favorite stockist Llarowe.

Ninja Polish Divinity Swatch and Review!

Ninja Polish Divinity is one of the most gorgeous polishes I've seen so far this year. This polish has all of the beauty of Max Factor Fantasy Fire / Unicorn Pee times about a thousand.

Divinity is a purple jelly base loaded with color shifting shimmer. It has so much shimmer that it's almost metallic in appearance. The base is purple, but this polish rarely looks purple. The shimmer glows red, gold, green, and every color in between making the polish look everything from burgundy to copper or green. The name is perfect because Divinity is absolutely divine!

With all of the shimmer, Divinity dries quickly to a matte-like finish. It's completely opaque in about 2.5 coats, (which means I got away with two coats on most of my nails but some nails needed a third coat). Unfortunately, I didn't have the best wear time on this polish. It started chipping within about 12 hours. I haven't heard any other issues with wear time, so it might just be my body chemistry. Different polishes work better for different people. I know I will still wear Divinity, it's so amazingly gorgeous, in the future I'll try different base coats/polishes.

Fiery red shimmer...

...amber gold....

....shifting to green...

Isn't it just gorgeous??

*Divinity is available from Ninja Polish for $11 USD

Butterfly Nail Art

I've wanted to try the butterfly manicure ever since I saw the tutorial on Pinterest (link here). It's such a fun, recognizable pattern and the tutorial makes it look really easy. I went with a bit of a different color scheme, blue and purple, rather than typical monarch butterfly orange. More like this butterfly.

For the base color I used Ozotic 505 then added details with a small nail art brush and Sally Hansen Black Out and Sally Hansen Whirlwind White.

Butterfly Mani

Butterfly Mani

The tutorial was really easy to follow and I think it looks just like butterfly wings. Have you tried the butterfly tutorial yourself? Is this something you would wear?

Ozotic 505

Since I've been wearing a lot of reds and purples lately I thought it would be good to change it up and wear something blue.

This is Ozotic 505, a strong multi-chrome that shifts from teal to blue to purple to amber.  This is my first Ozotic polish, and I finally understand why they are so popular. I haven't come across any color-changing polishes with this much color shift. The formula was pretty sheer (which is expected for any good duo/multichrome), I layered two coats of 505 over Deborah Lippmann Dancing In The Sheets, a gorgeous dark blue shimmer.

Check out this multi-chrome!

First up, the teal side of 505...

Ozotic 505

.....the blue...

Ozotic 505

.. a bit of purple...

Ozotic 505

... the full spectrum...

Ozotic 505

... and lastly, an ugly angle to see the amber that's visible at extreme angles.

Ozotic 505

In reality Ozotic 505 is all of these colors at once. It's hard to capture in pictures but it's amazing in person!

What's your favorite color-shifting polish?

*Ozotic Polishes are available online in the USA from Harlow & Co, Ninja Polish, and Llarowe. They are expensive but worth every penny! (There will also be one available in my next blog giveaway... ) *
