Urban Lacquers: The Husband and The Wife (Valentine's Day Love Triangle Trio)

Today I have some lovely Valentine's Day polishes to share with you! These two polishes  are part of Urban Lacquer's Limited Edition Valentine's Day Love Triangle TrioThe Husband and The Wife (the other polish in the collection is The Mistress to complete the love triangle, but today The Husband and The Wife are feeling loyal so I don't have The Mistress to show you). :)

First of all, how cute is this packaging? I loved Urban Lacquer's packaging the first time I ordered from them, and when I opened my package to find themed decorative packaging I was even happier. It's been a few years since I've gotten a cute little Valentine's card, and opening a package to rose petals and hearts is just plain fun.

First up is The Husband, a gorgeous red-toned brown with sparkly blue shimmer. The shimmer in this one is really unexpected, and absolutely gorgeous. I never would have paired brown and blue together, I love the results. I always have a love hate relationship with brown, I love them but they can sometimes look horrible with my skintone. The red-tone of The Husband really helps it work with my skintone, and I love how classy this color looks.

The formula on this one was really perfect, very smooth and easy to apply! I'm really impressed with the quality of these polishes, formula-wise they apply much like the high end brands. The Husband was opaque in one or two coats depending on application. I was a bit messy with my application and had to add a second coat to my middle finger, but the rest are just one coat with top coat. Being so opaque I bet this would work great for stamping too, I might finally have a polish to use with my giraffe pattern stamping plate!

Enough chatter, the photos speak for themselves!

Next up, The Wifea sheer purple-toned fuchsia jelly loaded with tiny flake-like shimmer. The shimmer just adds so much depth with the squishy jelly look. There's just something so pretty and feminine about a beautiful jelly like this.

The formula was nice and smooth, and while it is sheer, it's very build-able (comparable to the build-able formula of Cult Nails Disciplined). The photos show four coats, and there wasn't any visible nail line in person. I don't typically wear jelly finishes, but the shimmer in this one is too pretty to not wear. I'll definitely be layering The Wife over other pinks and purples!

Both The Husband and The Wife are so pretty, and the names are cute for Valentine's day too. I love shimmers and these are right up my alley. What I think I like the most about Urban Lacquers is their formula, which is so smooth (without sacrificing opacity) compared to most indie polishes that I've purchased.

Urban Lacquer polishes are available from the Urban Lacquer Etsy Store. The limited edition Valentine's Day Love Triangle trio retail for $25. The Husband and The Wife are also available individually for $9.
