Takko Tuesday! - Xocomil
Tuesday, July 28, 2015
Happy Takko Tuesday!
Today is a special Takko Tuesday because today is Takko restock day. This evening at 8pm EDT, Takko Lacquer will be releasing two new polishes (Kitsch and Cake Rules Everything Around Me) along with a restock of the Summer 2015 collection. I shared with you the two new polishes in the last few Takko Tuesday posts. But today, I am sharing with you one of my favorites from the Summer 2015 collection. "Xocomil" is a periwinkle blue creme packed with tiny real silver specks. It looks like a sprinkling of silvery dust on the nail. I really like the uniformity of the silver specks throughout the polish. I used two easy coats for this mani. Takko Lacquer's new formula is 5-free and infused with Vitamin E. This makes the polishes dry a little semi-matte. Because of this, they have released a brand new high shine, quick-dry top coat. I used the new top coat, "Sugar High" for this mani. It quite glossy but it is not super thick so it is best to use over polishes that are already smooth. That means it probable wouldn't smooth out a large, chunky glitter topper or textured polish. My favorite thing about "Sugar High" is that it's scented. It makes your fingertips smell like candy! I look like a weirdo smelling my nails while I'm wearing it...but I don't care!
Restock of the Summer Collection and launch of the two new polishes happens tonight, July 28th, at 8pm EDT (Miami time). So be sure to set your alarms because Takkitos are highly coveted and like to fly off the virtual shelf. Be sure to follow Takko Lacquers on their social media to learn about restock times.

Butter London Bloody Brilliant Lip Crayons with Polish
Friday, July 24, 2015
Good day to you!
I have something a little different for you all. Today, I am branching into the Etc part of PolishEtc. Being a nail polish blogger, I am exposed to all sorts of other beauty products. I have quite a collection of lippies and eye shadow palates because of watching beauty videos on YouTube and reading other beauty blogs. At the beginning of this year, I decided I was going to start wearing lip stick. Because...why not! I have been loving it and get a lot of comments (mostly good) on my lip shades. So, as you can imagine, I was super excited when Butter London sent these beautiful new lip products to try out. I am not a make up blogger, so I don't have the fancy set up for photographing my face. And quite frankly, I'm not all that comfortable with flashing my mug around yet. So...you get you see arm swatches and some corresponding nail polish colors!

Takko Tuesday! - Cake Rules Everything Around Me (C.R.E.A.M.)
Tuesday, July 21, 2015
Happy Takko Tuesday!
Tonight, I have a very special Takkito to share with you all. Did you know that Takko Lacquer is turning three! To celebrate the birthday, Sheryl has created a lovely polish that has all the shimmery goodness we have grown to love from Takko. "Cake Rules Everything Around Me (C.R.E.A.M.)" looks like a shimmering cupcake on your nails. The base is a light pink creme polish that is packed with tiny matte glitters in a rainbow of colors. It reminds me so much of sprinkles! But the real treat of this polish is the golden shimmer. It really gives it depth and separates it from all of the other creme with sprinkles polishes out there. The formula was good. It was opaque in 2 coats but not overly thick. Because of the tiny glitters, a good glossy top coat is recommended to smooth everything out. I think Cake Rules Everything Around Me is a unique addition to the Takko Lacquer line. I am a fan! Are you?
You can score this 3 year birthday polish on July 28th at 8pm EDT during the restock of the Takko Lacquer Summer 2015 collection. Be sure to set an alarm and get ready with your trigger finger because Takkos get snatched up quickly at restocks. Here is where you can find out more about snagging those Takkitos:

Awesome Sauce Indie Box - Exotic Destinations
Thursday, July 16, 2015
Hi there!
Today, I have a fun box of indie polish goodies to share with you. The Awesome Sauce Indie Box is a quarterly box with polishes from 5 different indie polish makers. Four of the makers are regulars and the fifth is a guest maker for each box. In addition to the 5 polishes, there are also two hand/body care items for each box created by one of the makers. The regular contributors are Lavish Polish, Ever After Polish, Aurora Lacquers and Anonymous Lacquer. The special quest maker for this quarter's box is Vapid Lacquer. This summer box is inspired by exotic travel destinations. Who doesn't love that? What I think is the coolest option of the Awesome Sauce Box is the ability to get either full sized polishes or mini polishes. I think this is an excellent option for people that don't want to spend a ton of money to try out new indie brands. So, let's get into some swatches!
Takko Tuesday! - Kitsch
Tuesday, July 14, 2015
Happy Takko Tuesday!
Today, I have a very special Takkito to share with you. This past weekend was Cosmoprof in Las Vegas. It is huge beauty convention that happens every summer. It has become a great place for lot of indie polish makers and bloggers to meet up. I really wanted to go this year, but I am in Boston for a different convention. But next year...I'm there! Sheryl and crew are in Vegas for Cosmoprof though! And she created a special edition polish just for the event. But don't you worry. Takko will also have this polish available for purchase online later this month!
"Kitsch" is a dense glitter topper that you might be able to get fully opaque with 3-4 coats. I'm sorry, I didn't try to get it opaque when I did this swatch because I was in a huge rush to finish this before I left for Boston. The glitter mix in this polish is very nice. There is a good mix of baby pink and neon pink matte glitters swimming in a sea of silver holographic microglitters and microflakies. "Kitsch" is also scented with a sugary cotton candy scent. I really like the scent of this polish and I don't usually like scented polishes. I used one coat over Tillie Polish "Lodge at the Lake" which is a navy blue and OPI "My Boyfriend Scales Walls" which is a greyish white.
"Kitsch" will be released on July 28th as well as a restock of the Takko Lacquer Summer 2015 collection. Be sure to set your alarm for the release/restock as people tend to get all grabby hands and they fly off the virtual shelf very quickly. Here is all the info to get your own Takkos!

Takko Tuesday! - Wynwood Walls
Tuesday, July 7, 2015
Happy Takko Tuesday!
Today, I am sharing with you a little flakie gradient I did using Takko Lacquer's "Wynwood Walls". this is another multichrome flakie from Takko that can be used as both a topper and as a full coverage flakie. I sponged a few layers onto the tips of my nails for a twist on glitter gradient tips. The flakies in this polish are fairly small and shift from purple to fuchsia to gold to blue. The dominant color is purple though. These flakies are opaque and flat. One coat gives you excellent coverage and you can get it completely opaque in 2-3 coats. I am going to share both the glossy and matter versions of this mani because #mattealltheflakies, duh! Let's take a look!
Oh my goodness...that matte macro shot is just so mesmerizing!
Takko Lacquers are highly coveted. So, be sure to follow them on social media and watch out for restock announcements on the website. People tend to get all grabby hands and the takkitos just fly off the virtual shelf. Here is all the info to get your own Takkos!

Lavish Polish - Summer 2015 Collection
Monday, July 6, 2015
Happy Monday!
I hope you all had a happy and safe Independence Day this weekend! (at least those of you that live in the States) Mine was pretty lame as I had to work. So, to start off this lovely week, I have a bright summer collection to share with you. Lavish Polish has come out with a collection of five summer neons. I preferred some of these on their own and some of these over a white base. They are all super bright and actually water marbled quite well. I am not a professional water marble artist like some ladies in Instragram are. So if they worked for me...they should work for you! I did a little water marble accent nail for all of these swatches using all five colors over a white base. Let's get into some summer neons!
A England - Proserpine - OMD3
Wednesday, July 1, 2015
Hey guys!
There is a fun, international nail art challenge that starts today! Have you heard of the 'Oh Mon Dieu' Challenge? This is the third year of this 31 day challenge that is hosted by four nail bloggers from around the world. I participated in some of it last year and wanted to try and get in as many of the prompts that I can this year. I will be out of town for a little bit of July, so I don't think I will be able to do them all. If you would like to participate a well, check out the rules here on Lindsay's page, Nail That Accent.
So...for Day 1, the prompt is TEAL! I decided to use and untried polish of mine for this. "Proserpine" is a lovely deep teal holographic polish from A England. I adore A England polishes. this is brand that I would buy any polish they release without seeing a swatch first. Their polishes are consistently that awesome. I used one coat here (yes, you heard that right. one coat!) along with a glossy top coat. I did some glitter placement on the sides of my nails using diamond shaped glitter from Mr. Nail Art.
