Butter London Shadow Clutch

Good evening!

Need some last minute Christmas gift ideas for the makeup addict in your life?  Or maybe you are a makeup addict like me and want some goodies.  I have been getting sucked into the makeup world this year.  Eye shadows and lippies are my weakness.  So, I figured I would review things that are more than just nail polish and nail related products.  It's the Etc part of PolishEtc, right?

A few months ago, Butter London sent me one of their new eye shadow palettes.  I wasn't really sure if I would review it because I haven't done any eye shadow reviews here before.  But I decided to give it a go!  I am new to makeup review and don't really have a set up to take good photos of my face and to be honest, I'm not too keen on showing my face all over the internet just yet.  So hand swatches it is! :)

The Butter London Shadow Clutch is such a great idea!  It is a real treat to have an eye shadow palette that contains all of the shades you want for multiple looks.  But most of the time, there are a few that don't work for you and you have to reach for another palette or single shadows.  Well, Butter London created a customizable palette with interchangeable single shadow duos.  There are 2 clutches available now with 3 different duos of single shadows.  I have the Natural Charm Shadow Clutch to share with you!

This palette comes with 6 warm, brown toned shades and a soft double ended shadow brush.  There are three matte shades (a highlight shade, a crease shade and a transition shade) and three shimmery shades (perfect for the lid).  The shadows are nicely pigmented and soft.  The matte shades were a little on the powdery side but easily blendable.  The shimmery shades were my favorite!  The two lighter shades were quite metallic actually and really shined.  Each of the 6 shadows can be removed by sliding them out of the right side of the palette.  You can rearrange them or switch out shades that you want from the duos.

The colors included in this palette are: 'Linen' a matte vanilla, 'Camel' a matte nude, 'Leather' a matte chocolate brown, 'Citrine' a coral metallic, 'Quartz' a warm beige metallic, 'Camo' a dark khaki sheen.  I swatched them on my hand in the same order as the patelle photo, one finger swipe each.

Two of the eye shadow duos were included.  I liked both of them but not as much as I liked the standard palette.  I can see me using them on the lid for a little pop of color now and again.  The Fancy Flutter duo contains one shimmery shade and one duochrome shade.  'Feather' is a beige shimmer and "Plume" is a reddish brown to blueish teal shifting chameleon shimmer.  This reminds me of MAC Blue Brown pigment and Colour Pop Kindness but more pigmented.

The other duo is the Moody Blues duo.  I would probably get the least use out of these two because I don't wear much blue eye shadow.  But I should, because these are some very pretty shades!  'Sequins' is a light minty green sheen and 'Sapphire' is a bright navy shimmer.  One swipe on the hand for each of these.

Butter London has another palette available called Pretty Proper which is has more cool toned taupe shades and two other duos with purple and black shades.  The palettes retail for $39 and the duos for $15 each.  Obviously, the best deal is the palettes.  You can get these from the Butter London online store and from Ulta.  I have seen them for sale frequently around the holidays, so be sure to subscribe to their newsletters to get the drop on new deals.  I am pretty sure you can use your Ulta Platinum 20% off coupon on these.  Score!  I think this would make a fun gift for both the beginner makeup user and the veteran makeup artist because of it's versatility.

Happy Holidays!
