Takko Tuesday! - McTakko and Black Creek

Happy Takko Tuesday!

This is the most special Takko Tuesday ever!!!

I am sure you are well aware of my Takko Lacquer obsession.  I have been doing Takko Tuesday for almost 6 months now and have been able to share with you my Takkito collection.  But today, I am not just showing you a brand new polish, but two new shade that I collaborated with Sheryl to create! Ermahgerd!  My very own Takkos that I helped create!  I don't really have the words to describe just how cool this is for me.  For many nail bloggers, collaborating with great brand to create a blogger collab shade is a huge accomplishment.  I know it is for me!  Sheryl and I worked on these two shades for a few months tweaking the shimmers and pigments.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.  Please, let me know what you think!

First up, let's talk about "Black Creek."  I first started out with a list of different color and shimmer combinations that Sheryl made little prototypes of and sent to me.  One that I truly loved was a dark grey with gold and pink microflakie shimmer.  I put a matte top coat on it and loved it even more.  So Sheryl played around with some matte pigments and 6 prototypes later...we have Black Creek!  I chose this name because not only did it remind me of the dark brown water of my local creek but it is also my job, which I love dearly.

"Black Creek" is a dark grey/brown base that dries down to a satin matte finish.  It is packed with gold and pink microflakie shimmer.  All of the flakies and matte pigments make it a little on the thick side, so be sure to do use even coats and not go over the same spot multiple times.  I had to redo a nail because I was being timid and dragging the polish all over the nail.  Personally, I love this polish on it's own in tow coats without a top coat.  I am going to show you all the different ways to wear it.  Let me know which is your fave.  First, let's see it alone without any top coat.

Now, here is Black Creek with a glossy top coat.  I used KBShimmer's Clearly on Top.  The shiny top coat really brings out the glimmer of the microshimmer.

And now, here is a completely different look with a flat matte top coat.  I used NYC Matte Me Crazy.  The stark matte makes my nails look like stone!

The second polish that I created with Sheryl is a such a pretty neutral.  I wanted to create another nude shade that would be like a little sister to "Blushing Nude" which is one of my favorite Takko Lacquers ever.  We started out with a pinky nude base and first had a bright fuchsia shimmer.  It wasn't exactly what I was looking for.  We liked the the base color but both agreed that it needed a more contrasting shimmer.  And boom..."McTakko" was born!  That name.  I love that name, lol.

"McTakko" is a blush nude creme with an electrifying teal/turquoise shimmer running through out.  The shimmer is very fine and shows up much more pronounced at an angle.  It is an elevated neutral shade.  Work appropriate but still has a little twist to catch your eye.  I freaking love it!  I did two coats here topped with KBShimmer Clearly on Top.  On it's own, this takkito dries pretty glossy.

If you love these polishes as much as I do, then you can snag them tomorrow!  Takko Lacquer is launching their winter collection which includes 6 new shades.  My two shade, two shades in collaboration with 25 Sweetpeas and two winter/holiday shades.  I will be posting all of the swatches on my Instagram today and tomorrow, but you will definitely see the colors pop up in an upcoming Takko Tuesday.  Release is at 8pm EST so be sure to set an alarm because we all know how quickly Takkos fly off the virtual shelf.  Not only is Sheryl releasing the 6 new polishes but she is also restocking the Fall 2015 Collection.  And...part of the proceeds from Takko sales in December is being donated to Feeding Florida.  As if you needed another reason to but more Takkitos!

Takko Lacquer has also added beautiful polish boxes to go along with the already beautiful bottles.  All new polishes with come with this classy packaging.  I literally gasped out loud when first saw them in person.  The bottles are changing a little bit, too.  You probably won't notice a difference in the look of the bottle, but you will notice a difference in the price.  Old bottles were $13 for a 12mls.  New bottles are $12 for 11mls.  Check out these new boxes!
