Nine Zero Lacquer - ROY G BIV Collection

Happy Friday!

Let's talk about rainbows today.  Oh rainbows...so colorful and fun.  Nine Zero Lacquer has recently come out with a collection of rainbow inspired polishes that are just gorgeous.  There are 7 saturated linear holographic polishes and 3 glitters in this collection.  I am totally digging the holos here.  They are bright and really pop on the nail.  This collection is available right now.  There are a lot of photos to follow, so let's get into it!

We are going to go through the rainbow in order and then look at the glitters last.  "Refraction" is a gorgeous red linear holo that has a slight orange lean.  The rainbow is very strong in this color and I really enjoy it.  I don't have a ton of red polishes.  This was thick and opaque.  You could get away with one coat if you were careful.  I did two for this swatch topped with Nine Zero Lacquer's No Time To Waste top coat.

"Frequency" is a deep rust orange linear holographic polish.  Of course...I love this one.  The shade or orange is quite nice and leans more towards the red side than yellow.  This, too, was thick and opaque.  I did two coats with No Time To Waste on top.

"Dispersion" is a bright lemony yellow linear holographic polish.  This is bright!  I have been digging the yellow holos lately.  I couldn't believe how opaque this was for a yellow polish.  I did two coats here and got full coverage.

"Spectrum" is a lime green linear holographic.  This was the thinnest and sheerest of all the polishes in this collection.  The rainbow in this one gives it a golden touch.  I did two thick coats here and was happy with the opacity but most people will like three thin coats as well.

"Wavelength" is a bright primary blue with linear holo shimmer.  This had the weakest rainbow for me.  Which is weird because I read in a few other reviews that this was the most holographic.  All of my photos are taken inside so the holo really is much crazier in real life out in the sun, I am sure.  This formula was thick and opaque as well.  I did two coats with No Time to Waste on top.

"Reflect" is an indigo blue with a super strong linear holographic effect.  The rainbows really pop off of this darkest shade.  Out of all of the blue/purple polishes in this collection, this is my fave.  This was only one thick coat for me.  It's awesome!

Last in the rainbow is "Chromatic" which is a blue toned purple linear holographic polish.  This may look similar to Reflect but it is much less blue and not as deep.  The rainbow effect is pretty strong with this shade as well.  Nice thick and opaque formula.  I did two coats with No Time to Waste on top.

And now for the glitters!  "Double Rainbow" is a white crelly base that is packed with rainbow matte glitters of various sizes ad shapes.  This is a super dense polish.  I like a thicker formula but this was even too thick for me.  There is just sooooo much glitter in here!  I did two coats to even out the white base for this swatch.  I topped it with KBShimmer's Clearly On Top because the formula is much thicker than the Nine Zero top coat and helped to smooth out the chunky glitter finish.

"Prism" is a fun little holographic microglitter.  It is mostly silver holo but there is a sprinkling of rainbow colored holo microglitter throughout.  Rainbows on top of rainbows here.  You can use this as a topper or you can get it opaque on it's own.  I did one coat over a black base and then three coats alone for this swatch.

Lastly, we have "Kaleidoscope" which is the coolest glitter of them all.  This is a mix of rainbow semi-transparent hexes in a clear base.  This really pops over a light base because of the transparency of the glitters.  It is glitter packed!  This is one coat over a nude base.  I love it!  Now, when you get the bottle, you will not even recognize that this is the same polish.  It looks like a dark, muddy mess in the bottle.

So what do you think of this collection!?  The holos are my fave for sure.  I think I like Refraction and Reflect the best.  Overall, the formulas on these polishes were pretty thick.  As I have said before, I prefer a thicker formula but many people do not.  If you are one of those people, you may want to add thinner to some of these.  They are pretty beautiful, so I think it's worth it.  The holos are selling for $11 and the glitters for $9-10.  There is a discount of $5 for purchasing the entire collection.

  1. I prefer thinner formulas, but I think I'll still think about getting them and just adding thinner as you suggested. I mean, who doesn't need a bright, holo, rainbow collection, right?!
