Well, my pal, Raph, over at Digital Nails, is who turned me onto this great toon all because of her newest collection, 'Definitely Not Cute' which is completely inspired by Bee and Puppycat. Once you watch this cartoon, you will see the inspiration for all of these polishes. Not only are the names smirk worthy but the polishes are quite beautiful and unique. There are 7 polishes in this collection with a nice variety of finishes and colors. This collection launches tomorrow, June 26th at 6pm CDT. Let's get into it!!!
"An Eggplant for a Pillow" is a deep, dark eggplant purple creme. In bright light, it definitely looks purple. But in low light, it will look black. I used one coat...ONE COAT..for this swatch. I haven't tried it yet but I think that this baby would stamp really well.
"Crotch Ice" is a shifty, flakie topper. OMG...this is amazing and my favorite of this collection. This is a clear based topper that is packed with large iridescent flakes that shift from blue to aqua to green to yellow to gold to epic. There is also a dash of "unicorn pee" shimmer that shifts from red to green to gold. I used one coat over "An Eggplant for a Pillow" and it blew my mind. To show off all the color shifty awesomeness of this polish, I used two light sources at different angels. Gotta work the angels! And of course, what do we do with flakies? We MATTE ALL THE FLAKIES!! (my youtube debut)
"Dreamy Bee" is a lavender crelly loaded with aqua and blue glitters. It perfectly fits the dream sequences in Bee and Puppycat. I used two coats with a thick layer of glossy top coat for this swatch. Because of the dense glitter in this polish, it can dry a little bumpy. So slather on that top coat. This little baby comes with and extra gift...a little bee ring. So cute!
"Use the Sword as a Sword" is a hot pink crelly. The formula on this was excellent. I used two coats for this swatch, but I really could have gotten away with just one coat. So smooth and squishy! I have not had a chance to try this out in a jelly sandwich manicure yet. But I have a feeling it will sandwich well.
"Glitter in my Pockets" is such a unique glitter topper. It is a dense mix of tiny square glitters and tiny hexes in a rainbow of pastel colors along with some iridescent squares. It dries matte and it dries very quickly. I do not own a glitter topper like this and that is a huge feat for me to have something this unique in my massive collection. I am showing you one coat over "Use the Sword as a Sword" without a top coat, in it's matte state. Then I added a glossy top coat for a macro comparison. I love this one!
"Fish Don't Cry" is a bright, minty green crelly stacked with green to gold iridescent flakies. This one was so difficult for me to photograph. The flakies are very apparent in real life and shifting all over the place. The formula was nice a squishy while still being opaque in two coats.
"Secret Space Outlaw" is the last of the bunch and certainly the most sparkly. Raph is the queen of super sparkly holo glitter. This black jelly base is overflowing with holographic charcoal glitter. The glitters are kind of grey, kind of gold, kind of magical. I used two coats for this swatch but almost only did one coat, honestly. Again, this was incredibly difficult to capture it's true beauty on camera. I should have done a little video for you all.
So...are you in love with this collection as much as I am? For me, "Crotch Ice" is the real winner but "Use the Sword as a Sword" is a close second. You can get this collection tomorrow at 6pm CDT from the Digital Nails Etsy shop. Let me know which ones you add to your collection!
