Doctor Lacquer Chromahedron Collection

Good evening!

Do you like shimmer and microflakies?  Then you will love this fall collection from Doctor Lacquer!  The Chromahedron Collection is a set of 8 polishes inspired by lesser known semi-precious gems.  Jewel tones are a staple every fall and the lovely shimmer of these colors really makes them special.  This collection just launched today.  They come in both full size bottles (16.5ml) and in medium sized bottles (10.5ml).  This medium size is awesome.  It isn't like those tiny 5ml bottles with the crappy brushes.  They are just a smaller version of the full sized bottles with good brushes.  I approve!  So let's get into so swatches and macros so you can decide which beauties you want to snag.

Takko Tuesday! - Filthy Rich

Happy Takko Tuesday!

I have a brand spanking new takkito to share with you all tonight!  Takko Lacquer is releasing a wonderful fall collection next month and I have one of the beauties here.  "Filthy Rich" is a black jelly polish packed with golden flakies.  This polish is very similar to last week's Takko Tuesday pick, "Nirvana."  The golden flakies look exactly the same.  They are not real gold flakes or metallic shreds but more like semi-transparent flakes.  The black base is perfect!  It is opaque enough to cover your nail line in two coats but sheer enough to let the golden flakies peek through.  I used two coats with both a glossy top coat and a matte top coat.  Matte all the flakies and matte all the jellies in one post!  Slow down, Amy.

Don't you love this polish?  I think it is very sophisticated and sexy.  This would be great for New Years Eve!  As I said before, Takko Lacquer is releasing their fall collection next month.  These seven new shades will be available on October 8th at 8pm EDT.  Be sure you set an alarm because Takko restocks/launches are bananas.  You've got to be quick to snag what you want.  Stay tuned for another new shade next week!

Takko Tuesday! - Nirvana

Happy Takko Tuesday!

I hope you all have been enjoying my Takko Tuesday series because I am enjoying sharing all these pretties with you each week.  Tonight, I have a beautiful takkito to share with you!  "Nirvana" is a deep blue tones teal creme polish packed with sheer golden bronze flakies.  Not only is the base color gorgeous but the formula is great as well.  It was slightly patchy on the first coat but then the second coat smooths it all out and it is full opaque.  I did two coats with a glossy top coat for this swatch.  Sometimes, teal colors like this can really stain your nails.  I have never had issues with this one and I have worn it several times.  I love it!  I hope we see this again soon in the Takko Lacquer shop.

#31DC2015 Recap: Day 1 thru Day 5

Hi loves!

I have been keeping up with the 31 Day Nail Art Challenge but I haven't had time to post everything here.  So to make up for that, I am going to do 5 days recaps of the prompts to share with you here.  Don't forget, you can stay up to date each day on my Instagram account if you like.  Since I will be showing many different polishes and nail art supplies in this post, I will note which items I received for review in each mani description if indicated.  The first 10 days of the challenge are prompts based on colors and are the easiest to complete in my opinion.  Let me know which looks are your favorite!

Takko Tuesday! - Afternoon Delight

Happy Takko Tuesday!

Today is another great edition of Takko Tuesday that I am sharing with my buddy Lotte in Germany!  She just sent me a humongous nail mail package filled with all kinds of fun German drug store polishes.  She's the best!  We are both sharing swatches of Takko Lacquer "Afternoon Delight" today.  This lovely polish was part of the Summer 2015 collection.  The base color of this polish is pink that leans a little bit coral in my opinion.  There is a lovely shifty shimmer that mainly looks gold but at certain angles it shifts to green.  I couldn't get that shift on camera but I promise it is there!  Takko Lacquer has a new formula that is infused with Vitamin E.  This helps with nail strength but make the polishes dry a little matte.  So be sure to use a glossy top coat to make it shine.  I used two coats of Afternoon Delight with top coat for this swatch.  So, after you look at my swatch, be sure to check out Lotte's swatches here.

KBShimmer Fall 2015 Collection

Hi friends!

I am overjoyed to share a new collection from KBShimmer with you all tonight.  If you have been following the indie nail polish community at all over the past few years, you have likely heard of KBShimmer.  They are the most popular indie nail polish brand ever!  (at least in my opinion)  They always have a wide range of nail polish colors and finishes that are hardly ever out of stock and super affordable.  Plus, they also carry other bath and body products and nail art supplies.  A one stop shop!  I have been a huge fan of Christy's creations for years, so you can imagine my excitement when I was asked to join the KBShimmer blogging team.  The Fall 2015 Collection is a set of 12 polishes including 4 cremes, 2 crellys, 2 jellies, 1 linear holographic, 1 glass fleck, 1 microglitter and 1 glow in the dark polish.  These babies release tomorrow, so lets get into some swatches!

Takko Tuesday! - Pucker Up

Happy Takko Tuesday!

Today, I have another oldie but goodie to share with you.  This was one of my first Takko Lacquers and is in the old, round bottles.  "Pucker Up" is a peachy/melon coral crelly polish that is packed with gold microflakie shimmer.  There is a little bit of a fuchsia shift to the shimmer at certain angles.  The formula on this takkito was a little sheer and a little thicker because of all the shimmer.  It did not want to self-level as well as I wanted it to.  I used three coats with a glossy top coat for this swatch.  I have a little bit of an obsession with the coral polishes that Takko puts out!  Let's take a look.

What do you think?  Would you like to see this takkito make a come back?  Takko Lacquer had a restock last week.  But in case you missed it, MeiMei Signatures has had a restock as well.  So international girls can snag it there.  Links below!

Femme Fatale duo for Color4Nails

Hi all!

I have two lovely polishes to share with you tonight.  As you know, my favorite indie nail polish stockist is Color4Nails.  They always have a great selection of international and domestic indie brands to choose from and the prices are not crazy.  From time to time, indie brands with create special polishes to be sold exclusively from selected stockist shops.  Tonight, I have a set of these exclusive polishes from Femme Fatale Cosmetics that were made just for Color4Nails.  Femme Fatale Cosmetics is an Australian indie makeup company and stockist.  They make some absolutely gorgeous polishes and have been cranking out amazing collections this year.  I have a few older Femme Fatale polishes and I love them.  Also, many of their products are named after nerdy things and make reference to World of Warcraft frequently (which I love because I am a total WoW nerd).

Let's take a look at these beauties that you can only get from Color4Nails!

"Ouija" is a charcoal linear holographic jelly polish loaded with gun metal and silver holographic glitters of various sizes.  Man, does this thing sparkle!  I used two coats with a glossy top coat for this swatch.  Even though it was so glitter packed it still was easy to apply.  Great color.

"Fire in the Sky" is a purple based polish with a strong pink/fuchsia shifty shimmer.  It is packed with small rainbow ultrachrome metallic flakies and tiny holo hexes. There is a lot going on in this polish and it is quite stunning.  I used to coats with a glossy top coat for this swatch.  The formula was thicker but still easy to apply.

Both of these stunners are available now from Color4Nails and sell for $11 each.  I do not know if they will be restocked once they sell out.  Which is your fave?

Day 2: Orange Nails of the #31dc2015

Good evening!

I have a quick and dirty post tonight to share my manicure for the Orange prompt of the 31 Day Nail Art Challenge.  I wanted to do an orange blobbicure for this prompt and tried several different color and polish combos.  I was failing so hard!  But I finally found a combo that worked and I love it!  I used two Cirque Colors holographic for this.  The orange base is "Valencia" and the blue is "Twilight".  Go Gators! :)  I did a blobbicure last year for the challenge and I feel this attempt was way better.

Have you tried this nail art technique before?  It's very easy.  You just put on a thick wet coat of polish and blob on another color right on top while it is still very wet.  Let me know if you try it!

SinfulColors - A Class Act Collection, Play It Cool picks

Hello all!

I have more swatches and nail art for you today using some colors from the SinfulColors, a Class Act Collection.  A subset of this back to school collection is the Play It Cool set.  This is a set of bold colored cremes and a few shimmers.  I chose three of the bold and bright cremes to play with.  All of these colors have been previously released and are part of the core line (as far as I know).  SinfulColors likes to repromote colors from their core line into new releases displays.  If the shades fit the new collection, why not add it!

I used three of the bright shades to create a simple nail art look with tape!  First I painted on the base color of "Energetic Red". Then I used blue painter's tape to block off the top half of my nail and painted "Feel the Vibe" on the bottom half.  I then used the painter's tape again to block off the tip of my nail and painted on "24/7".  I did use a quick dry top coat between each layer (because I a lazy and I don't want to wait for polish to dry).  Man!  I really like this look!

SinfulColors tape mani by McPolish

Let's take a look at each of these shades individual.  First up is the base color, "Energetic Red".  This is a creamy and bright tomato red.  The formula was quite good.  I did two coats with a glossy top coat for this swatch.  I got flashes of my visible nail line at time, so a third coat might be needed for those of you with longer nails.  I think this polish needs to go in with the comparison I plan on doing with some butterLONDON colors.

SinfulColors - Energetic Red - McPolish

Next up, is "Feel the Vibe" which is a lovely orange creme.  I like the warm undertones of this polish.  The formula a little crelly like.  I thought it would have been much more opaque than it was.  I needed to use three coats to level everything out.  But it was worth it because, duh, orange!

SinfulColors - Feel the Vibe - McPolish

Lastly, we have "24/7" which is a bright Barbie pink creme.  This is a classeic SinfulColors polish!  This shade of pink is a staple in any girls polish stash.  The formula was similar to "Feel the Vibe" and I needed three coats to even everything out and topped it with a glossy top coat.

SinfulColors - 24/7 - McPolish

The SinfulColors, A Class Act collection is available now from Walgreens and other retailers.  I have personally seen the Play It Cool display at my local Wallgreens already.  Each of these retail for only $1.99!  At that price...how could you not snag them all?

Check out the other bright shades on the SinfulColors website and more nail art looks on their social media pages (Facebook Twitter Instagram).

Day 1: Red Nails of the #31DC2015

And we're off!

Today, we start the 31 Day Nail Art Challenge.  Come along on my journey :)

My daily nail art posts will likely be short and sweet since doing the challenge is hard enough, writing about it is even harder.  But one good thing, is I will likely get through some untried polishes this month with the challenge.  Today's theme is red and I used an untried polish from Polish My Life called "My Red Room".  I stamped over this shimmery red with Konad black using the Pueen 54 plate.  I added a little extra sparkle with small dots of Pipe Dream Polish "Cha-ching".  Does this mani have a Christmas feel?  Possibly it makes me feel that way because of the red polish.  I generally only wear red polish around the holidays.  Hope you like them!

Takko Tuesday! - Floridazed

Happy Takko Tuesday!

Yes...even with the #31dc2015 going on, I can't give up my Takko Tuesdays!  Today, I have one of the newest takkitos to share with you.  "Floridazed" is part of the Summer 2015 collection.  It is a turquoise based polish with a strong pink shimmer that gets brighter as the angle increases.  This was a very hot color combo this summer.  I wore this shade on my toes one day to the beach and I felt like I was in Florida! (oh wait...I am in Florida, but you know what I mean)  I used two coats topped with Takko Lacquer's Sugar High scented top coat for this swatch.  The formula was o the thicker side with all the shimmer but not super opaque.  At some angles, I can still see a little visible nail line.  So, you might need to do three coats if you have longer nails than I do.  This polish was made with the new Vitamin E infused formula so it did dry a little satin/matte.  You can choose to wear it satin, but I recommend a glossy top coat because is makes that shimmer POP!
